Three numbers, one decision
Popularity
How much the term gets searched — estimated from how deep Apple's result list runs and how generic the term is. High popularity with no ranking is worth nothing.
Difficulty
The strength of what already ranks: the median rating count of the top ten — so one giant outlier doesn't declare a term impossible — plus how many apps compete and how well-rated they are.
Opportunity
Demand discounted by competition — the number to sort by. A term is worth taking when people search it and the incumbents look beatable.
Honest about the method
Everything comes from Apple's public search API, computed in your browser with the same scoring rules the Storeboard Mac app uses when estimating. Popularity here is an estimate: Apple's autocomplete ranking isn't readable from a web page, and Apple's official popularity numbers live only inside an Apple Ads account — the app uses both.
Per-storefront, on purpose
Keyword demand doesn't translate. "Water tracker" and "wasser trinken" are different markets with different incumbents — an app that can't crack the US top 50 can own the German or Japanese results. That's why localizing your listing is usually the cheapest ranking win available — and the rank checker shows where you place for a term in every country.
Privacy: the check runs in your browser and talks only to
itunes.apple.com — the same public endpoint the App Store itself uses. Nothing you
type reaches us or gets stored.
Found a term worth targeting?
Storeboard puts it in your listing in every language, tracks your rank for it daily, and publishes the result to App Store Connect — entirely on your Mac.
